Victoria Golf Course Review, Vilamoura Algarve Portugal

Oceanico Victoria Golf Course Vilamoura Algarve Portugal
Central Algarve Region, Par 72, 6609 metres, 2004.
Green Fee Guide: €€€€€ Buggy included

Overview: Course designer Arnold Palmer did a fantastic job in creating Victoria from what was originally an unpromissing piece of flat land on the edge of Vilamoura. The course is about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Vilamoura. Although a young course, Victoria has already hosted several tour events. The Laguna and Millennium courses are next door to Victoria.

Reasons to play Victoria Golf: It's a great layout with lots of variety in the holes. It challenges your strategy as well as your ball striking, with many holes offering a choice in how to play off the tee. A buggy and range balls are in the green fee. The facilities and the club house are first-class. 10 minute tee time intervals.

Factors to consider at Victoria Golf: It is expensive, but overall you do feel you are getting reasonable value. The layout is very american in style with lots of sand and water. One thing Victoria lacks compared to other great courses in the Algarve is good scenery. But this is a minor criticism, Victoria really is very good.

Degree of difficulty of Victoria Golf: It plays long, even off the yellow tees, so it favours big hitters. But it is a fair course, and if you don't hit the ball miles, you can still score well using your handicap stokes and laying up. For older players, there is the option of playing off senior tees that are forward of the yellows.

Our overall verdict: If the idea of paying around £100 for the green fee doesn't worry you, then Victoria is Highly Recommended
