Green Fee Guide: €€

Overview: Laguna was the third course to open in Vilamoura. It's located on the edge of Vilamoura and shares it's clubhouse with the Millennium course. Much of the golf in the central Algarve is on tree-lined courses. But Laguna is distinctly different. There is hardly a tree in sight. What you do see is a lot of bunkering and a fair amount of water.

Reasons to play Laguna Golf: It's the cheapest course to play in the central Algarve, and as Laguna's flat, you don't need to pay for a buggy either. It's a fair course for the visiting golfer, as you can see what needs to be done with no blind shots. It makes a change from the central Algarve's parkland courses.

Factors to consider at Laguna Golf: It operates a crossover tee time system, with players starting from tee 1 and tee 10 at the same time. Consequently there are never tee times available between 10 a.m. and noon, as this is when the crossover is taking place.

Degree of difficulty of Laguna Golf: If you can play out of sand and keep the ball away from the water, Laguna is pretty easy in calm weather. But Laguna is exposed to the breeze off the nearby Atlantic, and it becomes much harder when the wind blows, which it often does there, especially in the spring.

Our overall verdict: A good course at the price. You can book cheap green fees through our advertisers. Worth Considering
